Rate Update

KEY TAKEAWAY:  Rates remain locked in a narrow range near the lowest levels of 2025, and buyers continue to show up—even with typical holiday slowdowns.

Mortgage rates nudged slightly lower but stayed within the same sideways band we’ve been tracking since the October Fed meeting. Even with minor rate fluctuations, demand held firm. The bond market gained early momentum from Fed comments hinting at a potential December cut, but a rebound in stocks kept rates from improving further.


Now that the government has reopened, markets will finally begin receiving the backlog of delayed economic data. Expect volatility around updated retail sales, durable goods, and Fed speeches—especially with the December rate-decision window approaching.
